Activella medications are designed for use in hormone replacement therapy. It is used to treat both the symptoms of menopause, and both are prescribed to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Activella is also used for vaginal atrophy. Estrogen, when taken by itself, poses an increased risk of uterine cancer. Activella and femhrt Dosage The recommended dose is one tablet daily. Uses of Activella and femhrt Estrogen is used to treat hot flushes in women who are experiencing menopause. Various brands of estrogen are also used to treat vaginal dryness, itching, or burning, or to prevent osteoporosis in women who are experiencing or have experienced menopause. Side Effects of Activella and femhrt Common side effects include: * Headache * Postmenopausal bleeding * Breast tenderness/pain * Upper respiratory tract infections Women who have been diagnosed with the following, should NOT take Activella: * Active deep vein thrombosis * Thromboembolic disorders or stroke * Undiagnosed genital bleeding * Liver dysfunction or disease * Known or suspected pregnancy * Breast cancer * Estrogen- dependent neoplasia * Hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients in the drug Warnings and precautions before taking Activella and femhrt In addition to increasing the chances of uterine cancer, estrogen replacement therapy may also raise the odds of breast cancer if taken at high doses or for long periods of time. Be sure to do a monthly self-exam of your breasts, and get regular mammograms. Estrogen replacement therapy typically doubles the chances of gallbladder disease. Notify your doctor if you experience pain, tenderness, or swelling in your abdomen. *You should tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any brand of oral estrogen, any other estrogen products, any other medications, or any of the ingredients in estrogen tablets. *You should also tell your doctor what herbal products you are taking, especially such as St. John's wort. *If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding, then you should tell your doctor. If you become pregnant while taking estrogen, call your doctor immediately. *Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Drug Interaction :- If you are taking Activella and femhrt with certain other drugs, then it may be increased, decreased, or altered the effects of medicine. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Activella and femhrt with the following: *Acetaminophen *Aspirin *Clofibrate (Atromid-S) *Cyclosporine (Neoral) *Morphine *Seizure medications such as Dilantin, Tegretol, and phenobarbital *Steroid medications such as prednisone (Deltasone) *Rifampin (Rifadin) *Temazepam (Restoril) *Theophylline (Theo-Dur) Overdose After taken Activella and femhrt if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of Activella and femhrt overdose include: *Nausea *Vomiting *Vaginal bleeding
