This generation did not invent back pain. Back pain has been around probably since man began walking upright, or maybe before. Back pain sometimes starts when we bend over at an odd angle. Long before anything that anything Western civilization came up with for back pain, there have been various treatments set forth by many different civilizations and cultures. The AMA (American Medical Association) considers all medical disciplines other than their own as alternative medicine. It doesn't matter that most of what they refer to as alternative medicine has been around many centuries longer than they have. One of the most well known forms of alternative medicines is acupuncture. Acupuncture has been practiced for over 5,000 years now and is a quite common treatment for back pain. Another common treatment closely related to acupuncture is acupressure. With With acupressure, the methodology is to apply pressure to very specific points of the body, with the use of only the hands and the fingers. The idea is to restore balance and realign the body's balance and thus relieving the pain. The use of herbs for medicinal purposes has also been around for thousands of years. In fact, many of today's synthetically produced medicines have their basis around around herbs and herbal extracts. However, with the synthetic drugs, there is usually a higher risk of the person developing side effects from their usage. Hippocrates said: "Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases." Chiropractics as we know it today, has been around since about 1895. Since the American Medical Association was established in 1847, they haven't been very far ahead. Chiropractors treat back pain with the use of proper alignment and balance... Today, millions of people effectively use their chiropractors to effectively manage their back pain. Chiropractic medicine as we recognize it today wasn't actually established until 1895. The AMA was established in 1847, so they do have a jump on chiropractors as such. Back pain is a pain that effects every movement that you make with your body. When your back does hurt... you want relief. If you have gone the traditional route for seeking relief from your back pain; and you have had limited success, you may want to look toward and alternative approach. Certainly, a discussion with your physician about an alternative strategy would be well worth the time and effort, especially before you would consider a more invasive approach such as some type of surgery.
