Arthritis

Arthritis is an illness that affects joints and muscles. The word arthritis literally means joint inflammation and refers to more than 100 different diseases. Arthritis symptoms include joint pain, inflammation and limited movement of joints. When a joint is inflamed it may be swollen, tender, warm to the touch or red. For most people arthritis pain and inflammation cannot be avoided as the body ages. In fact, most people over the age of 50 show some signs of arthritis. Joints naturally degenerate over time.
Arthritis is often a chronic disease, which means that it can affect you over a long period of time. Many forms of arthritis cause swelling, redness, heat, and pain. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States, limiting the activities of nearly 19 million adults.

Types of Arthritis :-

Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Gout
Ankylosing spondylistis.
Juvenile lupus erythematosun (lups).
Fibromyalgia.

Causes of Arthritis

Osteoarthritis is more common in older people because they have been using their joints longer. Younger people can also get osteoarthritis. Athletes are at risk because they use their joints so much.
The exact cause isn't known. A person may be at increased risk of osteoarthritis because it runs in the family. Osteoarthritis seems to be related to the wear and tear put on joints over the years in most people. But wear and tear alone doesn’t cause osteoarthritis.

Weak digestion, constipation, overeating and very little physical activity are the symptoms that can develop in a patient of arthritis.

Home Remedies for Arthritis

Lose weight and get close to your ideal weight. If you weigh less, there is less weight on your joints, and less pain, fairly simple way to relieve some of the pain of arthritis.

One cup of green juice, extracted from any green leafy vegetable, mixed in equal proportions with carrot, celery, and red beet juices is good for arthritis. The alkaline action of raw juices dissolves the accumulation of deposits around the joints and in other tissues. A cup of fresh pineapple juice is also valuable, as the enzyme bromelain in fresh pineapple juice reduces swelling and inflammation in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Vitamin C, helpful on so many levels, but it has been shown that people with rheumatoid arthritis don't get enough vitamin c, so add some to your diet.
Another very popular home remedy for arthritis is Certo. You mix in one tablespoon full of Certo in a small glass of cranberry or grape juice. Drink two to three glasses a day. A number of people with arthritis swear by this.
