The shortage of skilled plumbers has today lead to an increase in the demand and need of skilled and experienced plumbers. Though the intensive courses may seem inviting where you get to complete the courses rather quickly, the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering doesn't actually recommend intensive courses. They consider it better if you take time to collect knowledge and practical experience during the course. However if you follow this route, ensure that your trainer is accredited by the City and Guilds.

There are some distant learning courses that offer the theory lessons of the plumbing course that is accessible through distance learning. The Open Learning Center International also now offers NVQ assessment with its technical certificate.
