Czech Republic Vacation

Many Americans do not realize what a fantastic country The Czech Republic is to visit. It is a country whose people have pride and determination. There are many cities in the Czech Republic that millions of people visit every year.

One of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe is the city of Prague. Known throughout Europe as a city where love blossoms, it rivals Paris for the title "city of love". Host to some of the most historic buildings in the world with architectural structures dating all the way back to the Roman Empire. Millions of people visit Prague every year to see the detail and sheer beauty of these ancient buildings. The Old Town, Lesser Town, and New Town are the three districts that make up the city of Prague.

The Charles Bridge which crosses the Vltava River is one of the structures that continually attracts visitors. Construction on the bridge began in 1357 under the rule of King Charles IV and was finished in the early 15th century. This 516 meter long bridge was the only means of crossing the river between Prague Castle, Old Town and Lesser Town. A phenomenal view of the Prague castle and St. Vitus Cathedral are clearly marked on skyline. The history of the Prague castle stretches back to the nineth century with additions being added through subsequent centuries, making it one of the largest and most elaborate castles in the world. During the life of this castle it has held many titles from a church to a convent and then in the middle-ages it became the residence of the monarchy.

One of the famous sites in The Old Town is the City Hall Tower. This incredible clock tower depicts the astronomy-zodiac timepiece that has become well known in Prague. It is an elegant timepiece that dates back to the fifteenth century. What is most amazing about this clock is the attention to detail in its construction. Above the clock, a door opens and the twelve Apostles appear, the skeleton of death tolls the bell on the right side of the dial.

The town of Kutna Hora hosts the most fabulous museum that is dedicated entirely to Alchemy and the study of mysteries of mythical creations. Another attraction that Kutna Hora hosts is the Gothic Stone Fountain. This incredible fountain was built in 1496 and is still a functioning fountain today. Many people find certain peacefulness while relaxing at the fountain.

Dining in the Czech Republic is an experience you will not soon forget. There is a diverse ethnicity in the cuisine. There is everything from Japanese to French.

The Czech Republic is filled with a historical beauty that few countries could match. Millions of people visit the capital Prague every year to see the best that this country has to offer. There is though, much more to the Czech Republic to discover for yourself.
