Baby Showers: "Daddy's shower" refers to a men-only shower for the dad-to-be. Even when a shower is held for only the first child, it is not uncommon for a parent to have more than one baby shower, such as one with friends and another with co-workers. There is no set rule for when or where showers are to be held and the party can thus be held at a variety of places and at various times. Baby showers are increasingly popular in Africa, Asia and Latin America, but are "women-only" social gatherings. In the United States, many people choose to have baby showers for both parents, and some people have a men-only shower. As well as gifts, another focus of a baby shower is to play games and party. There will often be things to eat and drink as well so it can become quite a social event. Here are some conceivable baby shower games: - Guess the birth date or guess the sex. - A baby shower game that can be played is tying a string around her abdomen, and if it breaks for one person, it's expected she or he's the next new parent. - Opening the gifts in front of the guests. Toys/Gift ideas and Toy information: There are many different types of puzzles, for example a maze is a type of tour puzzle. The things that are built are sometimes used as toys once completed, but generally speaking, the object is to build things of one's own design, and old models often are broken up and the pieces reused in new models. The origin of the word "toy" is unknown, but it is believed that it was first used in the 14th century. Miniature animal figures are also widespread, with children perhaps acting out farm activities with animals and equipment centered around a toy farm. Some toys, such as Beanie Babies, attract large numbers of enthusiasts, eventually becoming collectibles. The oldest known mechanical puzzle comes from Greece and appeared in the 3rd century BC. Baby details and essentials Newborn infants have unremarkable vision, being able to focus on objects only about 18 inches (45 cm) directly in front of their face. A protein called noggin is responsible for the delay in an infant's skull fusion. As an infant's vision develops, he or she may seem preoccupied with watching surrounding objects and people. Every baby cries, but babies who cry for more than three hours a day, three to four days a week, may have colic. As infants age, and their appetites grow, many parents choose from a variety of commercial, ready-made baby foods to feed the child, while others adapt their usual meals for the dietary needs of their child. A newborn has a developed sense of smell at birth, and within the first week of life can already distinguish the differences between the mother's own breast milk and the breast milk of another female.
