Self-Confidence is an emotional and mental state that responds to a person's need for self-acceptance and peer recognition. It is among the oldest and most studied ideas in psychology. It is used to describe a positive albeit adequate perception of oneself and one's abilities. As such, individuals with self confidence generally have a better idea of the things they are able to do and are more apt to be successful in what they attempt. They are able to more readily admit and learn from their errors. On the contrary, a lack of confidence may deter you from believing what you do and decide will after all work out the way you would have liked to. It can hence interfere with the improvement of decision-making skills, planning and management strength all of which are necessary and sought-after things in the business world of today. The pre-occupation with other people's judgment of your work can also make you become overly self-critical, which will distract you from jobs you would otherwise be perfectly capable of doing. Low self confidence will also have an impact your social life, as individuals with low self confidence tend to remain in their "comfort zone" and dread the risk of rejection. This is called social phobia and is commonly associated with low self confidence, as well as other mental afflictions like depression. People with low self confidence are scared of the judgment of their peers and will avoid meeting new people, which can result in isolation and even lower self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious cycle that's hard to break. On the other hand, because they have faith in their own abilities, individuals with self confidence are able to do what they feel is appropriate and do not feel the need for the approval of other people. They also inspire confidence: your boss, employees, customers, friends or relatives will be more likely to believe in you or in the things you are saying when you appear self-confident. Several experiences can cause low self confidence. New research proves that parenting style has a critical effect on the development of the self confidence of children. Physical and psychological abuses during childhood are for instance the worse for a person's self confidence, along with family conflicts or divorce. Overprotective parents may also contribute to a child's social phobia and deter the independence that is necessary to develop self confidence. Successes and failures, for instance at school or in one's professional life, also play a major role: failing a class or losing a job are some of the various experiences that will have a negative impact your self confidence. It is however possible to overcome those bad experiences and gain self confidence. The first thing to do in order to develop self confidence is to learn to know who you are and your strengths. Recognizing that you cannot be perfect and cannot be the best in everything you do will help you build self confidence. Accepting who you are is the key to gaining self confidence. But improving self confidence also requires that you start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your achievements. This is very basic advice that will help you gain self confidence. You might also find a great number of books that will tell you how to gain self confidence, however many of them are not reliable. Many people suffer from low self confidence or are only capable of gaining self confidence in one or a few areas of their lives because they constantly look for other people's approval and are scared of failing. Numerous factors, such as childhood traumas, can explain why some people are not able to have the wholesome life of a self confident individual. Such individuals also do not always know how to gain self confidence. However improving self confidence can now readily and effectively be done through hypnosis and NLP. As we have seen before low self confidence and social phobia can stem from bad experiences or unconscious fears that are sometimes hard to overcome through self persuasion only. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the contrary are able to reach the unconscious part of the mind and change belief systems to boost self confidence. They are powerful tools that will help you address your fears and believe in yourself to develop self confidence. Hypnosis for confidence has been used for several decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotized state, getting to unconscious thoughts is a lot easier and, thanks to hypnotic suggestion, you will be able to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to boost self confidence.
