How do you cope with a anxiety attack?

By: Kathy Nelson

Just because the event you are attending isn't a huge one it doesn't mean that you won't feel anxious. The anxiety attack can often be brought on by someone at the event. The expression "love makes people do funny things" is very true and the focus of anxiety attacks are often love interests, either present or past ones.

If you are afraid of open spaces then you know what that going into an open space will cause you to have a panic or anxiety attack. Some people will know that certain animals will have the same effect, rats and spiders come to mind. As crazy as it sounds this is a good think, at least you know exactly what causes your anxiety or panic attacks, imagine if you had multiple trigger points.

Your body is programmed to protect you, and for all of our years of education, rules and regulations when faced with situations that our mind considers to be dangerous it will try and force us to either stand and fight or run. This is called fight or flight and has managed to keep the human race alive for millions of years. The problem is that the high levels of chemicals released at this time can cause you to have an anxiety attack if you are unprepared for it.

When a person experiences an stressful or traumatic event the body will react to it. This can release chemicals into a persons system that will cause an extreme reaction to the situation. An anxiety panic attack can occur when chemicals are triggered. The body assumes there is danger that it must react to, this is called a panic attack. An anxiety panic attack can have many of these key factors. Feelings of fear, hopelessness, increased heart rate, sweating, tingling, nausea, headaches, and emotional fluctuations.

We are all different and we all deal with panic differently, most people will find that fear and panic breed anxiety. We are usually able to control our feelings of fear and panic, we try to get them under control before they take over our very being. If you are unable to control these feelings then you will often end up suffering from a anxiety attack.
