How to Know When to Call a Woman

Success! You got her number! Now you have to decide how long to wait before calling. Do you wait one day, two days (like in Swingers), or a few more? Here are some guidelines for knowing when to make that first call.

First of all, if you met her at a nightclub on a weekend night, you can call her an hour later. This may sound too needy on the face of it, but can actually work wonders for your game. Women have a tendency to forget guys they've recently met, especially if they've given their number out multiple times in a night (not uncommon), so a quick reminder is helpful. You can call on your way out of the club at 1:30 AM, saying "Oh my gosh, you will not believe what just happened!" (Be ready with a quick funny story). Keep the call short and bouncy.

If you met her at a bar, club, or other nightlife venue, you should call her within the next day. As special as we like to feel, chances are she gave her number to at least one other guy. When you call, you don't have to have much to say, but you do have to reestablish contact rather quickly. The next afternoon is probably the best time to call, as long as you aren't too overtly happy to hear her voice again.

The only time I would suggest you wait two days is if you met her during the daytime. If you met her at a Borders, or in line at a movie theater, then she will probably remember you for a few days, because these daytime connections don't happen so often.

No matter what "rule" you're following, do not wait three days or more before having some contact with her. if there's no time to call, at least send her a text message is "Do you speak text?" (Credit: Sinn). Sending texts back and forth will keep the door open until you can hear her voice again.

Now, sometimes she'll be out of town for a week and not be able to contact you. That's fine. If you had a decently long conversation with her (at least fifteen minutes), you should be imprinted in her memory enough that after your first voicemail message, she'll still remember you when you call again the next week.

If you follow these guidelines, you'll find that when a call a woman you've just met, she'll be happy to hear from you. She wouldn't be thinking "Oh, him again?" nor "Michael who? Who is this guy?"
