Acupuncture is an ancient alternative form of treatment, for illnesses in the different body systems, that has been in existence for hundreds of years. It makes use of thin, sterile, stainless steel needles, inserted into identified acupuncture points, depending on he part of the body that is affected with illness. The treatment -- differs on each patient, depending on the kind of illness, the stage the illness is in ( is it just starting or is it at its advanced stage?), and the patient's response to acupuncture. The acupuncture session is often in combination with other forms of therapy for better results. Treatments are normally scheduled weekly, then at a reduced frequency as the patient's health improves. Acupuncture can only be effective in the hands of a certified practitioner, who truly understands the fundamentals of the traditional Chinese acupuncture. Acupuncture is not only for the treatment of illnesses, it is also for its prevention. If illnesses are caused by imbalances in the body, then a regular acupuncture, could restore balances and prevent illnesses from developing or even starting. . For example, a stressed out brain can cause Qi deficiency, resulting to Yin and Yang imbalances. Acupuncture can improve the flow of Qi, restore balances, and prevent illnesses. Simple, isn't it? Acupuncture is based on the principles or Chinese belief that Qi ( pronounced as "chee"), the term for the life force or "energy force" , exists and enforces control anywhere in the world, including the human bodies. Qi flows in the human body as shown in the acupuncture chart. The lines indicating the flow of Qi are called meridians or pathways. Blocked pathways can reduced the amount of Qi flowing in the body and consequently, imbalances happen. It is part of the belief that illnesses are caused by any imbalances of the Yin and Yang the terms for the positive and negative forces respectively of expansion or contraction. What acupuncture can cure Acupuncture can also be used as a preventative treatment as it is often possible to detect imbalances in the body before illness occurs. The earlier a disorder is detected the better so regular checkups are recommended. Acupuncture is a safe treatment for all. It has proved to be effective in pregnancy management and for the relief of pain in childbirth. Acupuncture can also help with migraines or headaches, even disorders such as insomnia, depression, fatique or irritable bowel syndrome. The Chinese people have used this therapy for illnesses and stress related conditions. The Acupuncturist will place small needles at different energy points around your body to help release energy blocks in your energy system to stimulate a body and to help the self-recovery. It is believed that illness occurs if any of the fourteen Qi meridians or pathways is clogged or blocked. The acupuncture needles serve to unblock whatever keeps Qi from flowing smoothly within the body. Needles also serve to activate the muscle nerve fibers. The muscle nerves as transmitters of impulses to the spinal card and eventually only other centers of the nervous system. The activation of nerve centers cause the release of certain substances to bring relief from the pain felt by the owners.
