Have you ever had the experience of seeing Mr. Handsome at a party or event and being very interested. Perhaps you even felt that instant unseen energy of attraction. But then, just as you were about to approach him, he turned and looked at you with an icy stare. Whereupon your ego crumpled. Then what did you do? You stop dead in your tracks, and make a beeline for the buffet instead. After that you feel uncomfortable. It's the white outfit, which is way too girlish and naive. Perhaps you should have worn the V-cut black dress. Maybe yesterdays french-fries are showing all over your hips in this monstrous filmy thing. At the party, you don't mingle much. You wait for the long, boring evening to end. Whereupon you trudge home, alone, to your empty apartment. Now what you will never know is that Mr. handsome wasn't looking at you at all. He was in fact reacting to the sourness of the drink he had just taken a sip of. He was thinking he wanted to spit it out, but didn't want to offend the host. His look of disdain was actually a reaction to his drink. He never even saw you until later, when he meandered over to the buffet and saw this vision in white. She was lovely, but she had an aloof look on her face. It was an above-it-all look. Still she was very appealing, in an odd sort of way. But he decided he was not up for the certain rejection, and walked away. Now if we look, both of these people in this story are 100% sure that they know 'reality.' They are sure that they know the very thoughts in each others heads. And that is the difference between perception and reality. And because of their beliefs, which they take as real, these two potential soul mates never even meet. And I would venture to say that this is how most of us do life. We go on our merry way, doing and not doing, based on what we think. And what we think is hugely colored by our judgments and assessment, beliefs and past. But we don't think it is colored. We think we are seeing the world how it really is. But really we are missing opportunities left and right. And we don't even know it. This whole concept of the difference between perception and reality is what we will explore in this and future writings. We will look at how to get power in life by setting aside our limiting beliefs and assumptions. So stick around, and follow my articles. And watch a whole new world arise before your eyes.
