1. Know your product. Such a tip might seem common sense, but nothing turns a customer off than a salesperson who doesn't know how their products work. Oftentimes, you are required to demonstrate your products to customers and show them how it works. There will also be times when a customer who has bought your products encounter a problem. In such cases, you should know how to fix their issue or at least point them to the right direction.

2. Build rapport with the customer. Establishing a solid customer base requires that you be extremely friendly with your customers. Get them to trust you and make them feel that they are your most valued customer, because they are.

3. Show your customer that your product will save them money in the long run. Most customers are very conscious about their money. Show them that with the added benefits your product gives, they will be buying an investment instead of a tool.
