There are so many foods around you that can make you fatty but in the same time you also want to low your cholesterol level. So how you want to reselect the right food for your body? Some foods that are found to be helpful in reducing heart disease risk are legumes (beans), and cold-water fish. Fish as salmon, albacore tuna, sardines and mackerel are the most concentrated source of omega 3 fatty acids, which help lower triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels. Essential fatty acids reduce the risk of heart disease when eaten in place of saturated fats in a low fat diet. The diet that your dietician will put you on, if you have a high cholesterol level, is very low in fat so cut out as much fat in all meat and dairy products and is one of the major causes of high cholesterol. Instead, you should try to include lots of vegetables, fruits, cereals, and grains in your diet that low cholesterol. If you do crave for dairy products, go for low-fat items. You may have dressing for your salads, sour creams for your baked potatoes, or coconut cream for your curry chicken, but always use the low-cholesterol or fat-free alternatives. For meat lover, consider the white meat of chicken without the skin and ground turkey which are very good low fat meats. Some fish like cod, has less saturated fat and cholesterol than chicken or meat. Limit your meat intake of bacon, salami, and sausage because they are high in fat and salt. Try to also reduce organ meats like liver and kidneys in you diet as they are very high in cholesterol. For breakfast, instead of doughnuts and muffins which have high cholesterol, you should try having a bowl of hot cereal with skim milk. And why not top your spaghetti with stir fried vegetables instead of a rich creamy sauce for lunch. And if you’re craving for some cookies, buy the low fat cookies instead. Try to avoid buying snacks that have high cholesterol content.
