No matter what business you are in, it is probably safe to say that your competitors are working harder to take your customers away from you than you are to keep them. When was the last time you sent a thank you gift to a customer? I don’t mean pens and calendars, I mean something useful, practical and valued. When was the last time you sent a hand written thank you note, just to say thank you for seeing me or letting me show you my products, even when you didn't make the sale? You'll be amazed at the impact it has on your business. You'll find you'll stand out. You'll be remembered and people will want to do business with you. Make it a point over the next few weeks to send a hand written thank you note to every person you meet with regardless of whether you make the sale or not. Just a few lines that say "Thank you for spending time with me. I appreciated the opportunity to learn a little more about what you are trying to achieve. I'm sorry I can’t be of any help right now, but please call me if I can help in anyway in the future." For your clients, find some small but meaningful gift that shows them you appreciate them. Every one needs to feel appreciated. Implement these two strategies and notice what it does for your business.
