Why I love online Photoshop training

By: Daniel Hill

Adobe Photoshop CS2 is the leading software in the world for digital image editing. If you're new to Photoshop, you'll be astonished at what a powerful tool it is.

Anyone who is serious about digital imaging and computer graphics knows that Photoshop is a must-have program. And even if you're just getting started with photos and videos on the Internet, Photoshop training can add power and value to everything you do.

Professionals know that ongoing Photoshop training is a key to their continuing success. And even photographers and graphic designers who have been working with Photoshop for ten or more years know that ongoing Photoshop training will allow them to reap the maximum benefits from this amazing tool.

Almost all novice photographers and designers have dappled in Photoshop, trying to learn as much as they can intuitively, clicking on things to see what they do until they find the function they're looking for. And novices can quickly learn to do a lot of the basics by using this kind of "click and miss" method, because the Photoshop basics are easy to figure out. But there is just so much that Photoshop can do. Many novices learn to do a few basic operations and limit themselves to the skill level of a beginner. Without Photoshop training you simply can't hope to unleash the power of this software.

Online tutorials and Photoshop training courses are a much more effective medium for learning the techniques and skills you need in order to get the most our of your Photoshop software. The wonderful thing about online training is that videos show you how to do everything step by step, click by click.

It's much easier to follow and grasp an instructor who is talking to us in a normal conversational tone than it is to follow instruction manuals that are often boring and hard to follow. Even Photoshop training based on message boards and question and answer threads is a huge improvement over traditional text books and manuals.

Text books and manuals are most effective when used as reference books. When I run into a specific problem, the manual can help me troubleshoot and fix the problem in a hurry, simply because it covers so much in one place. But when it comes to a task like getting started with Photoshop, I always learn faster and stay more motivated by breaking down the learning process into manageable segments. This is what good online Photoshop training does best-it takes you one step at a time, focusing on one skill until you've got it down before moving onto the next skill.

I didn't use Photoshop for the last six or seven years, and now I realize how much I've been missing. I've discovered that what was true then is even truer today-even if you're not a professional designer, Photoshop training can change the way you work and the way you live. It gives you the power to add tremendous value to all your jobs.
