You Can Win Child Custody and Keep Your Sanity

By: Kyle Roberts

What do you believe your chances are in getting custody of your children? Are you going to ask for full custody. Is it even reasonable for you to request full custody. What role did you play in children's life. Where you the primary caregiver or was your ex? Did you make dinner, get the kids ready for school or put them to bed at night.

Determine what is in your child's best interest. The first thing to remember when you are determining the best interest of your child is that the court will have an entirely different idea and definition of this.

There are certain statutes and laws that each state uses when determining the best interest of a child. Child custody evaluators are usually called upon to determine the best interest of the children. Most of them will include the following things. The wishes of the children's parents or parent as to his/her custody.

In considering some psychological factors affecting the best interest, the psychologist may focus on the parenting capacity of both parents, past and present roles the parents may have had. The values of the parent and the ability to plan for the future needs of the children.

The physical and mental health of all individuals involved. The willingness and ability of each parent to facilitate and encourage a close and continuing relationship between the other parent and the child.

Selecting an attorney is very critical in any child custody case. Please do not overlook this step. One of the biggest mistakes is just randomly choosing one out of the phone book.
